Whether you own planted longleaf or loblolly pine plantations, natural pine, or natural pine and hardwood mixed, your trees and the woods in general will need attention at some point in
time. Once we have carefully examined your timberland for age, quality, species of trees, and
how well stocked the forest is, we may recommend a thinning of the trees to reduce the number of trees per acre, especially if it is a pine plantation or an over-grown stand of natural pine.
This practice removes the suppressed, diseased, and low quality trees and leaves the better quality
trees to grow. Or, we may recommend a clearcut harvest when it is not well stocked with good quality
trees, the trees are overmature and are not growing, or you have the wrong species on the site. We
follow a long list of steps when it comes to handling sawtimber sales for our clients if that is your desire.
Most importantly is the location of the property lines and corners. A surveyor may be necessary. The next step is the inventory of what is to be harvested, where we determine the volumes and values of the timber products. Painting the sale boundary trees and producing a very accurate map of the sale area is very important. Finally, we discuss with our client the conditions of the sale and prepare a timber sale notice to be emailed out to over 100 local timber buyers for sealed bids. This somewhat
brief discussion on harvesting and thinning trees does not include all of the many details and steps
when it comes to marketing your forest products, so feel free to call us for more information. We look
forward to talking to you!

We have been in business since 2009 as Consulting Foresters, and have combined over 80 years of forestry experience working with major corporations and consulting forestry. We partner with and have our client's best interest in mind when it comes time to thin or clearcut harvest your forest. We market your timber and get the highest dollar that we can get. Markets and prices are continually changing, so it is always best to have a consultant on your side, instead of selling to someone knocking on your door or mailing you a card saying they pay the best prices.
Having a big sale, on-site celebrity, or other event? Be sure to announce it so everybody knows and gets excited about it.
Research at the University of Georgia has shown that timber sold by consulting foresters brings an average of 28% more value than timber sold without a consulting forester. An NC State University and Mississippi State University research study found an average of 20% more value on timber sold by consulting foresters.
We use a detailed timber sales process to ensure you are getting the most money possible, and the harvest is being done with YOUR objectives in mind. Wildlife habitat, aesthetics, buffers along creeks, leaving areas natural, are all part of the process.
Our objective is to make sure you get the highest price possible and that the sale process is completed properly so that you and your land are protected.
